Experience
Uphold
Junior DevOps Engineer, Infrastructure. Braga. Feb 2025 - Present
- Infrastructure team member on an AWS stack with Cloudflare-fronted reverse proxy and traffic routing, and Datadog covering log, metric, APM, and DBM ingestion.
- Onboarded untracked infrastructure into Terraform and extended Ansible playbooks for the Datadog Agent, Fluent Bit, SSH/SFTP, systemd-managed services, and log rotation, improving fleet management.
- Migrated Java projects to Maven and CodeArtifact with CD scripts for the existing JBoss 7 app servers, giving teams a trackable CI/CD pipeline that improved delivery quality.
- Planned and executed production cutovers for a MySQL to PostgreSQL migration, and rolled out Datadog APM and DBM for improved service and database visibility.
- Tuned JVM settings with G1GC and asynchronous JBoss 7 state transfer, improving restart times and reducing OOM incidents.
- On-call for the Infrastructure squad, contributing monitors, alerts, and SOPs, and driving incident response and postmortems.
Accenture
System Developer Analyst, Backend. Braga. Mar 2023 - Feb 2025
- Main maintainer of an internal fork of a 10+ year old JBoss-based tolling project (image review and toll processing), migrating the platform from JDK 8 to JDK 21 for better performance and security.
- DevOps squad member, streamlining Maven/Docker artifact repositories, CI/CD pipelines, in-house Azure development, and Terraform-provisioned sandbox environments.
- Restructured the build into a multi-module Maven project with a shared BOM and improved dependency caching, enabling multi-threaded builds nearly 6x faster and cutting build times by over 80%.
- Contributed to the system design of a pay-per-mile tolling PoC, building CI/CD pipelines on GCP with Cloud Build, Cloud Run, and Cloud SQL, using Flyway for schema migrations and Pub/Sub for background processing.
- Supported the GCP DevOps onboarding team, giving managers feedback for new joiners’ project placements.
INESCTEC
Research Grant, HASLab. Braga. Jan 2022 - Jun 2022
- Provisioned a 4-node Slurm cluster with Ansible, enabling repeatable setup for previewing HPC environments.
- Piped performance and power metrics from RAPL into Prometheus and Grafana via a Docker Compose stack, making compute-vs-energy trade-offs visible for analysis.
- Explored CPU frequency scaling configurations that reduced energy use and CO2 emissions with limited performance impact, informing the design of a green scheduler.
